Challenge

Create a brand that intrigues and invites the customer to experience an alcohol rich with a prohibition based history around its supposed hallucinogenic properties.

Approach

A favourite drink of artistic types such as Hemingway, Picasso and Van Gogh, this spirit was thought to bring on the onset of madness and became outlawed for many years. This idea came forward through the design as the wild, swirling shapes surrounding the logo play on humans' uncanny ability to see faces within inanimate objects.

Outcome

A packaging design that becomes more engaging and truthful to absinthe's origins, the more the customer drinks as they become more likely to see faces start to emerge from the patterns.
